Hiring a migrant with an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) scheme

  • Employer Accreditation

This first step assesses business’s compliance with employment and immigration laws, as well as financial viability to support migrant workers. Choose the suitable accreditation type depending on your business model and needs - Standard Accreditation: For NZ businesses hiring up to 5 migrants. High-Volume Accreditation: hiring 6 or more migrants. Triangular Employer Accreditation: For NZ businesses that employ migrants but place them with third-party companies; no limit on the number of migrants.

  • Job Check

This stage checks that no suitable New Zealanders are available for the role and that the proposed employment terms comply with NZ employment/ immigration regulations. It usually requires a job advertisement for 2 to 3 weeks and a review of the draft employment agreement.
